Asset management

Asset management is “coordinated activity of an organisation to realise value from assets". One of the key benefits of good asset management is a strengthening of the ability to compete through the delivery of operational reliability and a predictable production.  Also, a strategic approach to asset management reduces operating costs, increases availability, improves safety, optimises processes, planning and scheduling and will result in an organisation better suited for operation and maintenance.

Ramboll offers unique asset management consultancy based on a combination of expert knowledge of O&M theory and hands-on technical experience from a wide range of energy facilities.

Strong O&M focus

As a response to the market demand for our services, over the last two years, Ramboll has established a specialist O&M organisation in our Energy unit. Building on our existing experience, we have carried out extensive training of the key technical experts in our O&M organisation to enable them to address asset management issues in a strategic manner based on thorough analysis. This approach has paved the way for a leading position as O&M consultants at large scale energy facilities.

Technical knowledge combined with O&M expertise

We are a major European and global player, and leaders in Scandinavia where no other consultant can offer the combination of hands-on technical knowledge of energy processes and systems and O&M expertise. Within the last eight years we have worked on 25 projects involving maintenance assessments, of which approximately one fifth are at energy facilities. Over the last two years alone, we have analysed more than 3000 plant components at different energy facilities with a view to preparing maintenance strategies based on an assessment of the risk of component failure and the consequences of such failure. Our comprehensive experience from energy facilities allows us to suggest, prepare and implement workable solutions.

We have worked on the planning, procurement and implementation of energy facilities all over the world and have also followed up on the operation and maintenance of the facilities that we have worked on. Our work delivers a more structured approach to O&M, and helps our clients manage risks and costs, to deliver an improved service and business overall.

Working in partnership with our clients

We build our services on continuous improvements, always closely involving our clients in the solutions. Improving availability and efficiency is an integrated part of our services, and we believe in maintenance solutions which are rooted deeply in the individual corporate culture. Working closely with our clients, we offer strategies to considerably improve maintenance organisations. Our specialists use their experience with tried and tested management, development and planning methods to deliver solutions that streamline our clients’ overall operating economy. We produce results by introducing new processes and practices into an organisation based on individual change strategies.

Projects

Vattenfall power plant, Copenhagen

Vattenfall power plant

Ramboll has completed two major Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) projects on one of Vattenfall’s power plants in Denmark.

Amager Resource Center

Maintenance screening and asset management implementation at Copenhagen waste-to-energy facility

Amager Resource Centre (ARC) is a Danish waste management company with an emphasis on sustainability. Their recycling stations receive more than 800,000 visits a year. ARC’s waste-to-energy facility receives and processes waste from approximately 550,000 residents and 45,000 businesses and in turn delivers electricity and district heating to approximately 150,000 households. The existing waste-to-energy facility is scheduled for decommissioning in 2017, and the facility is being replaced by the world's most modern facility engineered by Ramboll.

Haldor Topsøe production plant

Haldor Topsøe A/S is one of the world's leading companies within process technology, research and development in heterogeneous catalysis for oil refineries, chemical production and green tech.  Over a period of 18 months, Ramboll carried out a major stock analysis and stock design project, which optimised Haldor Topsøe’s management of spare parts.

Offshore wind turbine foundation

DONG Energy offshore wind farm

The Anholt Offshore Wind Farm, which was completed in 2013, is the world's third largest offshore wind farm. The 400 MW wind farm, placed in the Kattegat strait between Jutland and the island of Anholt, produces energy equivalent to the annual energy consumption of 400,000 households, or 4% of Denmark's total power consumption.
